Keeping Up With The Kardashians

If anyone questioning who is the most famous family in the entire world at the moment, the answer is probably The Kardashians. I mean, who would deny the fact that this some kind of dysfunctional family was one of the reasons why we glued ourselves to the telly every Tuesday night. This so called modern Brady Bunch was indeed intoxicating. And they were my ultimate guilty pleasure. I know, I know, your guys will probably like laughing at me when you read this. Yeah, it was so lame that I fell for their dramatize lifestyle, but, even though I aware that there was nothing real about their reality show whatsoever, still, I found that they were succeed brought the baby talking back and even trendsetting it. And I love it. Bible!
The Kardashians were all about family. Kris is the family matriarch and her daughters' business manager. She was married to the late Robert Kardashian, best known for being a defense lawyer during the O.J. Simpson murder trial, and had three daughters and one son with him before they divorced in 1990. She later married athlete Bruce Jenner, and has two daughters with him. She owned the now-closed children's boutique, Smooch, in Calabasas, California while Bruce is the 1976 Olympic decathlon champion who married Kris in 1991.
And there is Kourtney, Kris and Robert's oldest daughter. She co-owns a women's boutique, named D-A-S-H, with her sisters in Calabasas, California, Miami, Florida, and New York City, New York as well as previously co-owning the now-closed Smooch with Kris. She was featured on the reality show Filthy Rich: Cattle Drive. She and her boyfriend Scott have a baby son, Mason Dash Disick.
But the real star of the family is Kimberly. Kim is Kris and Robert's second daughter. She rose to fame in 2007, when a sex tape with her and then-boyfriend Ray J was leaked. She co-owns D-A-S-H and is the producer of an E! reality series, The Spin Crowd. She was a contestant on Dancing with the Stars. She launched her first perfume in 2009 and has endorsement deals with bebe, GNC (which makes QuickTrim) and ShoeDazzle. She recently released a song, "Jam (Turn it Up)", for charity purposes. She is married to New Jersey Nets Basketball Player Kris Humphries. Kim was reported by the New York Post as the highest-paid television reality star in 2010, and was estimated to have been earned $6 million from the show and endorsements for products.
And then comes Khloe. Khloé is Kris and Robert's youngest daughter. She is married to Los Angeles Lakers player Lamar Odom. She co-owns D-A-S-H, was arrested in 2007 for a DUI, and appeared in a nude photo shoot for PETA's "I'd Rather Go Naked than Wear Fur" campaign. She was also a contestant on season 8 of The Celebrity Apprentice. But the youngest and only boy in the Kardashian's Klan is Robert. Rob is Kris and Robert's only son. He graduated from USC business school, and became a model. And then of course, there are Kendall and Kylie Jenner, daughters of Kris and Bruce who became an IT teens and now following their half siblings foot steps in pursuing career in modeling. One thing I like about the show was how the girls in the family rule the entire shows. I mean, as a girl, it was so fun for me to watch the show that so women related. Check out when Kourtney had to moved out from Khloe's house to Kim's and they were carrying those big suitcases down the stairs then Kourtney was like, "Don't you have a bell man or something?" Khloe's answer was like, "Yeah, Robert. The new Bruce," Hah!
Okay, for you guys who haven't watch the show whatsoever, this was probably confusing, but, let me tell you something. I know some of you, the serious kind of people, might think that the show has no value in any category whatsoever - just another entry into the 'fast food' genre of reality programing - lots of calories, non-filling and quickly forgetful, but for me it was entertaining. I mean, I was never take life so serious, so to have something closed to meaningless was fun. A critic once said that here you have another twenty something ungrateful Hollywood raised female woman-child, in another typically ungrateful for celebrity-family with parents who are so self absorbed and ungrateful towards themselves, that you wonder how they can have time left to be ungrateful towards the children under their roof/in their lives. So what keeps me watching? The 15 minute 'clinique' beauty of the twenty something self described "socialite"? The little "naughty-bits" they sneak in of T&A just under the radar of standards and practices? The self-absorption of the parents? The back-talk and snotty attitudes the children are allowed to give to these parents? The unruliness of a blended family? Or just the idea of taking a peek into the life of "folks with celebrity" and then taking a look at your own life and realizing that mom and dad ....maybe aren't SO bad. Yeah.
But the beauty of freedom is that there will always be something for everyone. And in that freedom, you can take a look and decide if it's good or bad. For me, this show is probably indeed  meaningless and unrealistic, but it's entertaining. I know the programs like this are getting to be a standard. There isn't anything warm or exciting about viewing the life of a young woman who's already hit her peak - mentally, educationally, sexually - and is heading downward fast. Or her mother who is allowing it - even if it is only due to her own self-absorption. And a father who couldn't care less because he isn't her father particularly, just another man in a long line of men that the mother has luckily hooked her claws into. And the household siblings - the siblings to whom you have a bet going that they will either run out of the home screaming for real love, acceptance, stability, boundaries - or end up just like their older sibling on a YouTube edited soft porn segment or even worse - a real one. Whatever critics said was, still, I adore this family as they manage to make money selling absolutely riddickidong  story of their life. Two words : Bra Vo!
So, is this entertainment? Depends on you. Maybe it is a train wreck that you may stop to see for a minute or two - but there are so many other train wrecks to see in "reality TV" these days from music television to classic television channels, so why stick with this one? Even if it's only for a minute? Well...maybe to hug mom and dad and thank them that you're not ever going to end up as dull, lifeless, and boring as this family no matter how much money, TV cameras or publicity there is in the world. This shows that fame, money -- the appearance of it or the chasing of it -- isn't all it's cracked up to be, but obviously will crack those who have it. And am definitely one of those who think that this was indeed an entertainment. Am addicted! Bible!

Who's In Who's Out (America Got It Wrong)

Alright, as one of the American Idol's fans, I (together with millions other fans out there) was literally shocked to see Pia's early departure last night. I mean, for the second time around America got it so wrong, and to topped of that, the judges couldn't stepped in to save her as they used their one time saving for Casey already when for the first time America got it wrong as well. I know this is a competition which depends on public votes in deciding who's in and who's out every week. And yeah, I know there was technology involved where we can't control the outcome whatsoever, but still, it was heart broken seeing such a talent having a premature leaving while at least two other contestants, according to me, don't deserve to still be up there. No freaking way!
So yeah, it was not a surprise at all when everyone put all of their disappointments on to their status in every social networking they were in last night. We can tell how upset the judges panel were, how Jennifer Lopez was literally in tears when she tried to hold her emotion, and so did Randy. Steven was also mad about the decision America had made, but of course, we hardly can tell as he is a rock star after all. They don't do emotion. Ha!
When talking about other contestants, I better tell you who I thought were supposed to leave last night, and they were Lauren and or Halley. I mean, seriously..they both had been in the bottom three for so many time, they did alright on the other night but Pia was way up there. She seemed to be in a different level than two other girls. She belongs to the top six of the best singers in the competition together with Casey, Paul, Jacob, Scotty, and James. So what went wrong last night?
I then remember the interview between Oprah and Adam Lambert earlier this year when Oprah asked Adam about the phenomenal show. About Simon's leaving and how it would effected the show. And correct me if am wrong, but am sure Adam said that for the first two weeks, most of the fans did actually bother what Simon said but after that it was totally about the contestants. Because by that time, they were normally built their own fans already and by that time the fans were already knew who their votes were going to. I was like, really? Okay, maybe Adam was right at some point, but what he forgot to mention was America does need what Simon said to pick the right contestant to vote. Since there was no Simon, there wasn't any judge to butcher the undeserved contestant up there and open the viewers eyes on which one was actually good and has the 'it' factor. As you can see, instead of vote for Pia who was totally well deserved to stay up there, America was prefer the fake and dumb blond redneck Lauren and another fake and trying so hard Halley to win their voice, what a shame! And yeah, I do believe that it was happened because Simon wasn't there to open their eyes. I mean, of course even when Simon was there, early departure was still happened sometime. Remember Chris Daughtry and Jennifer Hudson who got booed earlier a few seasons ago? But at least it happened once in each season and it happened later on than what happened last night and when it happened to Casey the other week. What happened to Casey was suck, hence living the judges with no other choice apart from forced to used their save hoping that America will get it right next time. But boy oh boy, no, they didn't.
Okay, Adam might be right that it was not about the judges but it was about the contestants. So totally true, but we have to admit that what Simon said defined the contestants on who they are and what they capable of. Simon did say some nasty words but it was only because he tried to open the fans and even the contestants eyes on how to pick their idol, which one is good, which one is bad, and which one is the ugly, and to be honest with you, he got them right so far. And yeah, I felt her when Jennifer Lopez said that she wasn't there to crushed anyone's spirit but as someone who has been in the industry for so long, she should've known that if you want to survive in that kind of world, you have got to have thick skins and stone hearts as you are going to experience something even worse than that in your future.
Back to the idol show, Pia's departure was indeed a shocking to everyone, but for two other girls left in the competition, am a hundred percent sure that it was an achievement. I can tell by how relax was Halley sat on the couch when Ryan Seacrest called out Pia's name as the contestant who was leaving the competition last night. Lauren, as a thick redneck, was literally in tears which looked so damn fake. I mean, she was like crying every week no matter what. Such a fakey dorkey!
So yeah, America got it wrong again. Some people even connected it with racist issue to see Stefano, Pia, and Jacob were in the bottom three while two of them (Pia and Jacob) were actually belong to the top five amongst other contestants. Even then, I can tell for real that Stefano was prepared himself to leave the show when he saw who he with in the bottom three. An unconscious reaction to Pia and Jacob's greatness from him, I guess. Oh, how this drama sometime more interested to watched rather than the competition itself. But racist or not racist, fair or not fair, appropriate or not appropriate, it happened! I know, reality can be suck sometime, and it does bite..big time! I sure do a little bit happy that Stefano is still in the show, hey..what can I say? He's such a cute boy, if only he's a little bit taller, ha! But yeah, I send tons of good luck to a lovely Pia as am sure that she will do just fine with her future career. Hey, look what happened to Jennifer Hudson now?

^_^

Simon Says...

If you were an American Idol's fan just like me, you would probably noticed that whoever in charge in that program was using Simon's departure as one of the critical point for their campaign ad. In one of their ad, they were like, "Do we still need Simon says..?"
Now, here is the thing, after ten years judging the program and made it the most watching television program in history, Simon Cowel, a sharp tongue British talent scout, decided to left the show. Formally he said that he wanted to concentrate on his other program the X-Factor which was a show that he produced in England and also became an overnight sensation. But who's he kidding with? Oh well, not me for sure. I mean, it must've been something wrong that lead him toward that decision and it started when three seasons ago they (the producers) put Kara DioGuardi in as the fourth judges for no reason. I mean, why in the name of the devil did they do that? Don't they know that there's no way you can put two girls on a same table together? It called chaos! Need a prove? How about Paula's departure on the season after? Voila!
So yeah, ever since her leaving, the show was never the same again. Come on, just admit it! No matter how dysfunctional Paula was, but that actually what made the show the way it was. And between 'sarcastic' Simon and 'out of her mind' Paula, the show was perfect as it was when two of them together. Such a love-hate relationship that makes us want to watch the show over and over again. And come on, I know it sometime sounds nasty, but what Simon said on the show were closed to what we at home were said normally, isn't it? Well, at least for me. And yeah, what Simon said was rude, but almost true. Don't you think that what Simon said was actually what the contestants' mommas should say to their kids before they were heading to the audition? Before they embarrassed themselves in front of million of viewers' eyes? Come on..
So, after realized the biggest mistake that they made by not keeping Paula and Simon in the family, the producers are now trying so hard to bring back the chemistry into the judges panels. But, did by bringing two big names in the industry do that? First let's talk about Steven Tyler, the Aerosmith's front man, that they brought to replaced Simon. Okay, he was a rock star, a larger than life's name to put on the table, but does he really replace Simon the way it should be? Um..am not so sure about that. For real, they will get more fans as Steven himself has got millions of followers behind him, but for the show? Hm..still a question mark for me. I mean, I still need those sharp comment from Simon no matter what. Don't you?
Now, let's move on to Jennifer Lopez, another larger than life's name that they brought on to the table to replaced Paula. For sure, she was way much more interesting to watch on TV with her 'oh so gorgeous' outfit every single week, even on the audition weeks. Am not a big fan, but yeah, I love her style and it glued me to my telly every Thursday and Friday afternoon just to find out what outfit does Ms. Lopez wear today. So refreshing. Does that make the show? Maybe. But we have to admit it that the show was never the same ever again. For better or for worst, it doesn't really matter. The point is, I don't know about you guys, but I do still need 'what Simon says'.

The Mystery Man In The White Suit

The Stig is a racing driver who appears on the British motoring television show, Top Gear. Cast as the 'tame racing driver', he is portrayed as a silent, anonymous, possibly non-human, presenter of the show, whose primary role is to post Power Lap times on the Top Gear test track and train celebrity guests to lap it in the 'Reasonably Priced Car'. He also makes various other appearances on the show, as do his similarly anonymous 'cousins'. The character was the creation of presenter Jeremy Clarkson and the show's producer Andy Wilman who came up with the idea for the revamp of Top Gear from its old format which ran from 1977 to 2001. 'Stig' was a nickname for new boys at their old school.
For years now the show producers kept the identity of the man inside the locker. To be honest with you, for me, this was made the show even more interesting, besides seeing the super trio Clarkson, Hammon, and May. There have been two Stig characters used on Top Gear - 'Black Stig' and 'White Stig', differentiated by the color of their overalls and helmet. Black Stig was used for the first and second series from October 2002 to July 2003, before falling out with the show's producers. He was written out of the show in a stunt in the first episode of series three, being launched off of the aircraft carrier HMS Invincible. In the next episode, new White Stig was introduced, and has featured for the next thirteen series, from November 2003 to August 2010.
The BBC has always refused to officially confirm the identity of the actor who plays the Stig. As a result, the identity of the Stig has been speculated on at length by the press, fans and racing personalities since the beginning of the show, becoming one of the most popular internet searches ever. Black Stig was first named by a newspaper as Perry McCarthy between the second and third series. After leaving the show, McCarthy identified himself in his updated autobiography, and is now generally named as the first Stig even by BBC media, although McCarthy has stated Julian Bailey also stood in for him also. In the era of the White Stig, several people have been linked with the role, even a returning Bailey. It has even been speculated that there is no permanent actor, with evidence at least of specialist Stigs used, such as Dan Lang, a Swedish snowmobile cross driver. Early suspicion fell on Damon Hill after an appearance on the show in 2005.
In January 2009, after sustained speculation and investigation by the press, suspicion mounted around one possible candidate, leading to Ben Collins being definitively named in the press as White Stig, although he denied it. In series thirteen in June 2009 the show revealed the Stig was Michael Schumacher, but this was quickly debunked as a stunt. In August 2009 it emerged the White Stig intended to write an autobiography, leading to a legal dispute between the show, and publisher HarperCollins, while Collins was further linked to the role with more reported evidence. On 1 September 2010, after failing to have the book prevented, the author was named as Ben Collins, with publication of The Man in the White Suit expected in September 2010. The BBC however still refuse to officially confirm if Collins "either was or remains" the Stig, simply acknowledging he is the author of the book who claims to be the Stig.
As one of the fans I was totally disappointed with this drama. I was always hoping that they kept the Stig identity as something sacred and let people play with their own thoughts about who the man was. But I can not blame them either as Mr. Collins greed was led him to make this, in my own perspective, stupid decision. Guess he was tired to be in the shadow and dying to taste some of that sweetness of sixty minutes of fame which for me, bad, worse even, decision! But hey, everyone has a right to be seen once in a while, don’t they? The main thing is that he was not that German driver. Oh how happy I am!

Booth Vs. DiNozzo

For those who love TV probably knew exactly what am talking about in this blog. Yup, it is about two TV series that caught many attentions lately, Bones and NCIS. Both are two different characters yet have this sort of similar personality. But first let me educate you guys who have no idea whatsoever about the series, those who have a busy and hectic life, hence their lack of knowledge about what is going on in the television's larger than life world. So, here is the thing, Booth is the character from TV series Bones. Bones is an American crime drama television series that premiered on the Fox Network on September 13, 2005. The show is based on forensic anthropology, with each episode focusing on an FBI case file concerning the mystery behind human remains brought by FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) to the forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan (Emily Deschanel). The rest of the cast includes Michaela Conlin, T. J. Thyne, Eric Millegan, Tamara Taylor and John Francis Daley.
Created by Hart Hanson, the series is very loosely based on the life of forensic anthropologist Kathy Reichs, who also produces the show. Its title character, Temperance Brennan, is named after the protagonist of Reichs' crime novel series.
The show begins in the year 2005, and tells the story of a series of case files, solved weekly, by the unlikely alliance of Temperance "Bones" Brennan's forensic anthropology team at the Jeffersonian Institute (a thinly veiled allusion to the Smithsonian Institution) and FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth. By examining the human remains of the murder victims, Dr. Brennan and her team provide scientific expertise and an outsider's perspective to the world of criminal investigation to the FBI. In addition to the murder cases featured in each episode, the series explores the backgrounds and relationships of the major characters including the developing friendship and possibly romantic relationship between Brennan and Booth. The series has dark comedic undertones.
Alright, that was our first excitement for today. Now let's talk about NCIS, also known as NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service, is an American police procedural drama television series revolving around a fictional team of special agents from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, which conducts criminal investigations involving the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.
NCIS follows a fictional team of Naval Criminal Investigative Service Major Case Response Team (MCRT) special agents headquartered at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. It is described by the actors and producers (on special features on DVD releases in the United States) as being distinguished by its comic elements, ensemble acting and character-driven plots.
NCIS is the primary law enforcement and counter-intelligence arm of the United States Department of the Navy, which includes the United States Marine Corps. NCIS investigates all major criminal offenses (felonies)—crimes punishable under the Uniform Code of Military Justice by confinement of more than one year—within the Department of the Navy. The MCRT is frequently assigned to high profile cases such as the death of the U.S. president's military aide, a bomb situation on a U.S. Navy warship, the death of a celebrity on a reality show set on a USMC base, terrorist threats, and kidnapping.
The MCRT is led by Supervisory Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon). Gibbs’s team is composed of Special Agent and Senior Field Agent Anthony "Tony" DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), Special Agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) and Probationary Special Agent (formerly Mossad liaison officer) Ziva David (Cote de Pablo), who replaced Caitlin "Kate" Todd (Sasha Alexander) when she was shot by Ari Haswari (Rudolf Martin) at the end of season two. Ari was then killed by his half-sister Ziva at the beginning of season three. The team is assisted in their investigations by Chief Medical Examiner Donald "Ducky" Mallard (David McCallum), Medical Assistant Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen), and Forensic Specialist Abigail "Abby" Sciuto (Pauley Perrette).
It has been revealed through flashbacks that the 'original' head of the MCRT was Special Agent Mike Franks, who led the unit when it was part of NIS. He recruited Gibbs shortly after Gibbs' retirement from the Marine Corps, eventually retiring himself some years later. After Franks' departure, Gibbs recruited DiNozzo from the Baltimore Police Department's Homicide Section. The two were briefly joined by Vivian Blackadder, whom Gibbs recruited from the FBI. In the second part of the NCIS pilot, Blackadder allowed her emotions to nearly derail an anti-terror operation in Spain. Gibbs is noticeably disappointed, Blackadder is not present in the series' first regular episode. McGee first appears as a Field Agent assigned to the Norfolk Field Office. He uses his computer skills to aid the MCRT in subsequent investigations through the rest of the first season, until he is officially promoted with his own desk at the Navy Yard in the beginning of the second season.
NCIS is currently led by Director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll). The first director seen in the series, Thomas Morrow (Alan Dale), left after being promoted to Deputy Director of DHS. Jenny Shepard (Lauren Holly) was appointed director after Morrow; she was killed in a shootout at the end of the fifth season, thus making Vance the director of the whole organisation. Ohoo..I can see that you guys are started to get into it now. I mean, seriously..the plot was very complicated, interesting, and far from boring.
Now, how do these two TV series connected to each other? They don't. But, their two different characters Booth and DiNozzo, for me, have this sort of similar charm. I mean, Booth is a special agent who has a great look and a little bit too confident with himself and so does DiNozzo. Both guys are constantly insist that girls are somehow really into them. But they both have different senses of humor though. Booth is a little bit more serious here as he was kind of closed type of guy. We don't often seeing him make fool of himself as DiNozzo does. Yeah, unlike Booth, Tony DiNozzo is a kind of guy who was always try hard, too hard sometime, to impress people hence his stupidity that makes him looking like a fool. Therefore, we will see the scene where his boss Gibbs slap him at the back of his head just to bring him back to reality quite often. And seriously, I do enjoy these scenes very much. Classics, hah!
One more thing actually caught my attention on this thing, it was how perfect the casts are. I mean, it looks like they were born to play the parts. They don't like acting at all. Boreanaz is Booth and Weatherly is DiNozzo. I know, most of Hollywood movies normally don't look for actors to play the parts anyway. More like they are looking for actors who are fit for the parts. Therefore, unlike British movies where the actors were actually acting, American movies do not have that kind of thing. Well, that was according to me, of course. So, back to our topic, the biggest things on telly at the moment (for me) was the similarity between two actors from two different programs but have the same exact charm. The charm that made me madly in love with them. Well, actually I was more like into Booth as I was obssessed to Boreanaz since he was played Angel in Buffy The Vampire Slayer plus there was a fact that I was actually dated someone who looks like him at certain angle, BUT, I can not ignore the fact that Emily Deschanel who plays Bones has this slightly annoying face that was always bother me whenever I watch the program. Hey, I did remind you guys that am a racist and I judge people by his or her look, didn't I? Besides, the fact that he was unfaithful to his wife proved nothing than that he knew exactly what kind of charm that he got and used it wisely, ha ha!

The Twilight Zone

When I was a little girl, my parents only allowed me to read books such as fairy tales ones like those books written by Hans Christian Andersen. Then in my teen, I was reading all of those Enid Blyton books and in my senior year I was allowed to read Alfred Hitchock. So yeah, that was pretty much effected my taste of stories. You can say that am a bitter but am not buying any nonsense, and am not so much in believing things like ghosts, spirits, or vampires. So don’t blame me if am not in to this Twilight Saga phenomenon at first place. When the movie first premiere last year, I wasn’t too keen or even interested to this thing, no matter how my friends were totally into it. Then came along the sequel New Moon, which was premiere a couple of weeks ago, I reckon. Still, I wasn’t interested. I watched people screaming and literally hysterical during the red carpet of the movie premiere on E! but that didn’t change me much.
Until last week when my man told me that I should’ve watched this movie because he thinks that it wasn’t a bad movie at all. And for him to tell that, it must be something about it. Here is the thing, my man was pretty much the same with me. In fact, he was normally sarcastic about almost everything. So yeah, that was caught my attention a little bit. Beside, the first Twilight movie was on telly already and was on that night, so no harmed, right?
OMG…that was all that I can say about the movie. Seriously, guys…for the first time ever I fell in love with a vampire! And yeah, you’ve got it right if you think it was all about Robert Pattinson. He’s definitely one hell of a hot vampire. I was totally don’t care anymore whether the story was make sense or not, I was really into the movie now. Honestly, I have never seen someone so loved by the camera since James Dean was dead. No matter from what angle, he looks so hot and mysterious. Not to mention his bad boy looking and messy hair that gravitated every girl toward him. Without any question, this morning I found myself locked my eyes in to the telly on the three hours special coverage of the movie, started from its Red Carpet Premiere, Fashion Police of New Moon Casts, and the Behind The Scenes of The Twilight Saga : New Moon. What a contradictory thing to happens to me! Well, now that am really in to the movie, I was thinking of getting the books myself. No, it’s not good enough to make me go to the cinema and take a queue to watch it like everyone else, my screen room at home will do just fine, but heck yeah…when the DVD come out, I will be the first one on the line to get it, hah!

Move Over, Guys…Brad Pitt Is Coming To Town!

So the rumor has spread. Yeah, starting today, October 16th, the shoot of the film Eat, Love, Pray is began in the island of Bali. As the star of the film, Julia Roberts will be here for the solid one week, together with her producer Brad Pitt. Yup, the film is produced by B Movie, a company used to owns by Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston but not anymore since their over published divorced on 2005. All the girls in town went mad as the news leaked. One of my dear friend was even plan the trip to Ubud, where they shoot the film, even way before they came. Hah, talking about the star struck thing!
Here’s the thing, I have nothing against anyone who chase stars in their spare times, but for me, they are not in my circle anymore. Come on guys, what was the last film of Julia Roberts? I can see everyone has a problem to even mention it, and no, it’s not Ocean 13. Actually it was Duplicity which she was co-starring with Clive Owen, I guess, and no it wasn’t a box office at all. As a matter of fact, for me, it was suck! Well, I don’t mean to tell you guys that she is already became a ‘Hollywood Has Been’ but yeah, the spark wasn’t there anymore. At least, to me, I can’t see it anymore. Even in Ocean 13, which was a very cool movie, she lost her superstar charmed in it. Luckily the film was starred by such a great male actors that actually safe the film from being slumped. That was also according to me.
Back to the craziness in the island of Bali, where duo ‘Hollywood Almost Have Been’ were shoot the film Eat, Love, Pray, I was like don’t understand at all why do people even bother? It’s only Brad Pitt, you guys! Call me weird, but I can’t see why do girls love him? A friend of mine even named one of his son from his character in the movie Legend Of The Fall, which made her fell in love with him! I don’t know guys, maybe I am a weirdo, but yeah, am not so much for any Hollywood leading man. I might be hysterical if Adam Lambert is here, or that Vince guy from Entourage, or Gerald Butler, and yeah...maybe even Collin Farrell. But apart from that, I don’t think so.
And talking about the reason why they were here, even more boring. Have you guys read the book? Yeah, am talking about ‘the’ Eat, Love, Pray book here. My best friend said that she was reading that book since, I don’t know, five months ago maybe? And she stuck at page 5 until now, she couldn’t finish it. Yeah, it was that boring, beside what do you expect from a book that wrote by a woman, about a woman, and dedicated to women? Duh! Am so sorry, I don’t mean to be a b*tch, I just want to tell you my opinion about this thing. Maybe am a fool, but even until today, I still think that yoga and or meditation and its gang was only for boring people and Sting, hah! So yeah, I never interested to read the book at first place, which for me is going to waste my time. But hey, everyone has their own taste, right? Then of course, I don’t really care about Brad and Julia who were in town at the moment, but I do wish everyone luck on their star struck thing..so, good luck, guys! Aaah, what the heck...Ubud for the weekend, Darling?

Don't Judge A Book By Its Cover (?)

I read this phrase not so long ago on my friend’s Facebook’s status and did not pay any attention on it until a couple of months ago, I met a guy in a club who was at that time approaching me but then at the end became a dear friend of me and my gang. When we told him about why did we welcome him in our closed and tight group, which was because of he looks alright (come on, I can’t be too obvious by saying that he looks great here, can I?), he was like amazed but then called us shallow as he said that our group judging people by their looks from the outside.
Okay, before we talk about that, let me tell you about this phrase first. The very common English idiom "don't judge a book by its cover" is a metaphorical phrase which means "don't determine the worth of something based on its appearance". It is probably the most common expression used in English to convey vanity. The phrase first appeared in the American journal American Speech in 1944 as "you can't judge a book by its binding." In 1946 the phrase appeared in the murder mystery novel Murder in the Glass Room (by Edwin Rolfe and Lester Fuller) as "you can never tell a book by its cover." It was further popularized by the 1947 movie "The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer," in which Cary Grant references the idiom anecdotally before saying the line "never judge a book by its cover." While the phrase itself may be born of the 20th century, the idea has existed much longer. In the 1st and 2nd centuries AD, the Roman author Juvenal wrote in his Satires, "Fronti nulla fides," (Satires II,8) which translates as, "Never have faith in the front.”
Back to my point, actually I was a little bit confused with the phrase. Let me explain to you guys here, why did I confuse? Here’s the thing, when it comes to judging something, for me, that means that I didn’t know anything about what I was going to judge, right? I mean, am not going to judge about something or someone that I already knew. It doesn’t call judging if we already knew about it, don’t you think so? Then yeah, when it comes to something that we didn’t know, of course we judge them by how they look from the outside, duh! Let me give you an example here, if you met a guy in a club then he was like approaching you while he was like not so much for an outlook, would you even smile to him? Would you even think of okay, I think he’s a nice guy so I’ll talk to him? Would you? I don’t think so. How do you know that he was a nice guy if you just met him at that point? How do you decide whether he worth a shot or not if you never met him before? Of course, you decide it by judging him from his appearance! Like when you saw a guy who you don’t know riding a bike recklessly with only surfing shorts on and body full of freckles, what was the first thought that came in to your mind? Exactly…OZ! How do you tell? By his appearance, definitely! And why do you think some people put false pictures of themselves on their so called social networking site’s account if they think that no one will judge them by their outlooks? Or why do you even bother checking on how do you look in the mirror before you left your house if nobody even care. That’s so human, guys! And it’s not shallow at all, well…at least for me it’s not.
Before you guys say something, let me now give you another example and this time is literally. If they said ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’ then why would they even bother to put a great picture and or design when they published a book? Nobody is going to decide whether they are going to buy that book or not by the look of its cover, isn’t it? Hah! So yeah, am so sorry guys…call me shallow or whatever, but of course, as a normal human being, I do judge a book by its cover. So don’t blame us if when the guy that I mention above, asked me to meet him again the next day after we met at a club that night, I was like asked my friends’ opinion about that. And guess what did they say? Yeah, they were like…he looked alright, he dressed properly, and he smelled good, so yeah…welcome to the club! Come on guys, we can’t say that he was a great or nice guy yet, we barely knew him at that time! But now after a while, we decided to maintain our friendship with him because of he was in fact a great guy, with a look as a bonus, hah! So the point that I am trying to tell you is, do judge a book by its cover, but don’t decide whether it worth a keep or not just by its appearance.

Oops, They Did It Again!

Yeah, if you want to know what this is about, it is about the result of American Idol that crowned Kris Allen as the new idol defeated the extraordinary Adam Lambert who is became a favorite since day one. I spotted this talented guy when he did the audition in San Diego last year which glued me to the television waiting for his actions week after week. Believe it or not, I do think that this beautiful guy turned American Idol to Adam Lambert’s Show with other contestants as mere guests. Am sorry, guys…but that’s the true. Every week people tuned in to their telly just to watch what this guy going to do to entertain them. Yeah, for the first time in Idol’s history, people witnessed a guy who was there not just to compete and win the title which drive them to millions of Dollar recording contract, but also to entertain. He was there to perform, despite on anything that people said about him, he was there to be a star. Well, he was born to be one, as since his early age he knew what he wanted in life and stick with it. So yeah, Adam Lambert with his bold and daring style, gave American Idol something to watch and he was succeed making this show not so boring as it did since it was been on for eight years already. Well, I guess America did it again as they did to Chris Daughtry a couple of seasons ago. Despite on how was Daughtry said that he is not so much an Adam Lambert’s fan but America did the same thing to both of them for different reasons.
I can not believe in this super power and famous as modern country as they said about America, somehow, still intimidated by a guy who knew who he is and where he stands. A guy who is non parentally approved and not afraid to wears make up, glam glittery, and those unusual costumes that make him looks so flamboyant and unique. With Adam, you could do anything that was probably only happened in your wildest dreams and transform it to real life. He is amongst all of those superstar who never say no to any challenges. He loves what he does and continue doing it whether people like it or not. He rocks! In the other hand, Kris Allen is a married College student in his hometown, Conway, Arkansas, who worked as a Church worship leader before this big thing happened to him. He is, in fact, a parentally approved type of guy next door (boring) who you would be proud to introduce to your mom. And don’t even think of doing anything dangerous with him. And, if am not wrong, I do remember that during his audition last year, the judge Simon Cowell did say that his modesty was kind of put him off. Well, guess what, me too! Boohoo!
Okay, that was personal matters, but if you watched the show week after week, then you will understand what am talking about. Adam was a better contestant by far compare to Mr. Humble, Kris. And once again, this is a singing competition, and Adam is by miles a better singer to Mr. Modest, Kris which is probably a better musician to Adam. I never said that Kris was not good, in fact that he performed ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’ so beautiful on the round one finale and Simon called it as his round and am totally agreed with him. But, I didn’t think that Adam was not good on his first performance last night, he was just as good as he was in the other nights so that we couldn’t see anything special anymore like what we saw in Kris. But on second and third rounds, Adam was the whole way through, even Simon said the second round was a million percent goes to Adam. So, what went wrong?
Well, this a competition that decided by people’s vote, so yeah, there is a lucky factor taking place in this arena. The battle was not only between the contestants but also between the fans. That is why, Simon who is, for some reasons, always has a strong feeling during the competitions and the only judge whose voice is always contribute the vote, reminds every Adam’s fan out there to keep in voting. I guess, somehow, deep down there, he knew that Adam was going to be David Archuletta from last season this year. We certainly won’t forget how David Archuletta, who was favorite from day one, got beat by another David, as a Cook, that is (thanks God for that). But this last year thing, I thought America got it right, as Archuletta is a Kris Allen of this season to me. So save, boring, sweet and guy next door type of person. Someone who will put you to sleep when he companied you. I know many people still can not take a guy who wears make up, nail polish, and costumes yet. For some reasons, which to me is ridiculous, they are kind of intimidated with a guy such as Adam Lambert one. Well, I can not dictated how people think, though, so yeah…that is their prerogatives. Beside, Kris was not that bad and to be honest with you, I think he needs to win this competition so that he can sell some records. Adam? I don’t think he needs to win anything now, as he build his fan base quite all right now, so he will be a superstar no matter what. Paula even said that he’ll becomes an iconic. Well, I know what you‘re going to say, who wants to know what Paula thinks anyway, but hey, for the first time in my life I am agree with her in this thing. Adam is going to be big just by being Adam. Girls love him, gays love him, and so do guys who are not intimidated with their identities. So yeah, for me Adam still rocks and guyliner is hot!

Adam Or Kris?

For the last few years, Fox managed to make American Idol to becomes one show that attracted more and more viewers year after year. I was started watching this show since (I think) five years ago but never got into it until I spotted Chris Daughtry in this program, which became one of my favorite singer ever since. Then of course, who can forget the talented Mr. Cook from last year, so yeah, now am one of the fanatics.
Who knows how honest the vote tabulations on "American Idol" are? After all, no outside source verifies them. But no matter how Fox and the producers of the series managed to get here, they now have their most culturally potent finale ever in the showdown between Adam Lambert and Kris Allen, and believe it or not, both are my favorite since the beginning. So yeah, am so proud of them as am proud of myself by picking them. Each embodies an archetype of musical and sexual identity at least as old as television. And the choice viewers and voters make this week will have something very important to say about where we are as a nation and what kind of pop star we are willing to celebrate and embrace.
Allen is a direct descendant of Ricky Nelson, the youngest son of Ozzie and Harriet Nelson, of the white-picket-fence 1950's sitcom, "The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet." A 1956 episode of the NBC series featured teenage Ricky Nelson forming a rock group to play at a high school dance. His first recording, "A Teenager's Romance," sold over a million copies in the real world. Ricky Nelson -- with his crew cut, penny loafers, V-neck sweater and guitar -- was a sex idol all right. The female, teen demographics for the series went through the roof once he started the band and launched a singing career. But he was the safe, TV-and-parent-approved version of teen sexuality in the 1950s -- chaperoned sock-hop dances in the high school gym with no slow, pelvis-to-pelvis-grind dancing.
In the other hand, Lambert featured a music icon who in those 1950s was recording songs like, It’s All Right, Mama and Hound Dog, who else, of course Elvis Presley, who was either being kept off network TV altogether -- or shown only from the waist up because of the nasty things censors thought his hips were saying to teen girls.
It goes without saying that the different between Nelson and Presley -- as for Allen and Lambert -- is that Presley (as Adam) was a non parentally approved, bad-boy sex in the backseat of a hot car parked down by the deep, dark river with lots of pelvis-to-pelvis grinding in the midnight hour. Yeah! Lambert's best performances embody that sense of transgression -- and then some. The "then some" includes many of the rock transgressors who have come since Presley: Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Prince and, perhaps, even Cher (this is not the place to argue about where camp meets transgression with her).
And this is where things get most interesting with Lambert. After the sexual revolution of the 1960s, there was hardly an aspect of heterosexual behavior or identity that was widely considered to be transgressive any more. But then came androgyny with Jagger, glitter and glam with Bowie -- and whatever with Prince which Lambert channel all of that, and it is at the heart what makes him so dynamic to watch on stage. In the middle of sounding exactly like Steven Tyler on an Aerosmith song, he'll suddenly soar into a falsetto scream somewhere up in the Holy Land of Patti Labelle -- and he'll stand there looking contemptuously like he could hold the note forever if he wanted to. Wow!
Which brings us to gender and sexual orientation. (You knew we were going to wind up here, didn't you?) After having everyone from Simon Cowell to "The New York Times" acting like it was all right to just assume Lambert is gay -- in part because of his Joan-Jett-like dyed blue-black hair, earrings, painted nails as well as the ability to hit those LaBelle-like notes -- we have now come to a kind of don't-ask/don't-tell relationship with the 27-year-old singer from San Diego and his sexual orientation.
And that kind of thinking is further suggested by the fact that the "American Idol" producers offer only sketchy details of Lambert's personal life while they give us lots of Allen and more of the recently eliminated Danny Gokey's world than anyone could possibly want. If Lambert is gay and he says so, it could be a "huge step forward for the show." But either way, it will be watershed if he is the one chosen the new "Idol" by viewers this week. For more than five decades, prime-time network TV has taught us to embrace the safer, less dangerous and daring model of behavior -- Fonzie Fonzarelli instead of Marlon Brando's leather-jacketed character in "The Wild One."
So yeah, this is our chance to choose the artist rather than the mere performer -- the musical tightrope walker willing to break taboos and cross boundaries. As David Zurawik from Baltimore Sun asked on his article Z on TV, do we dare?
